*So what's this Chicago Station thing, anyway? Chicago Station is the nickname for a group of fans in the Chicago area, and their fannish endeavors. The name originated in the early 90s, when we were watching a British program called The Sandbaggers (very grim spy stuff), and several of our friends adopted positions in the fannish "organization"--D.Ops, C., Sandbagger #1, etc. As the bulk of Sandbaggers fans were on the east coast, we started calling ourselves Chicago Station, referring to the foreign stations of MI6 (British Intelligence), and the name stuck. Over the years, Chicago Station has been involved in producing music videos, silk screened t-shirts, and zines. The quote at the top of the page is a line spoken by one of the operatives on station (Malta, I believe), to the head of the Special Ops. division, aka, The Sandbaggers. For more information on The Sandbaggers visit www.opsroom.org.
