The first hill in Emyn Arnen had no trees, and Eowyn insisted trees were essential. The second hill had a magnificent ash tree and several smaller ones crowning its summit. This, she declared, would be their home.
They spent quite some time pacing the grounds, describing the rooms to each other. Then she stopped.
"What is here?" Faramir asked.
"Our bedroom," she answered and smiling, drew him down.
Amid the soft grass and the shading trees, they made love.
Afterwards, lying together, she stroked the grass that lay beneath them.
"It is ours now," she whispered. "We have consecrated it."
